* BROOKLYN LOFT *

This is the ultimate NY experience in this loft. We felt like we were right at home at this enormous space. There are too many things to mention, James was delightful and would definitely stay again. Thanks

James is very easy-going and even on a trip to Europe we found a way to make things smooth. Great guy! Very nice loft, the pictures are not lying at all. The location was perfect to me : close to Williamsburg and Bushwick. The best of both worlds : hipsters on fixies and puertoricans :) ! You feel like a new-yorker @James' Be aware though: this place is not for first time tourists. But if you wanna feel the vibe and the culture of a disappearing New York, this neighborhood is for you. Nice view from the rooftop, graffitis on the streets' walls, if Keith Haring was still around this where he would be !

Amazing part of town, close to some of the best restaurants in Brooklyn (Momo and Tandem). Don't let the distance to Manhattan scare you off, this place is magic.

We enjoyed meeting James and staying in his Brooklyn loft. Nicely laid out and equipped. There was plenty of room for all 5 of us and it was located very conveniently for getting in and out of Manhattan. Also some good restaurants and coffee shops nearby too. We'll definitely stay there again if we visit New York in the future. John S. and family.

Our stay in James' loft was magical. It's a great spacious flat that is lofty but has a very homely/ comfy feel to it which is usually hard to find. We liked the neighbourhood which has a few great places to eat (Roberta's) and drink (The King's County). There is very easy access to Manhattan by walking to the Morgan L stop in about 5 minutes tops then getting on the most reliable subway line (we think) straight to the heart of NYC. We felt very much at home and Brooklyn is a great place to stay when in New York.

Loft was just as lovely as we had hoped. In a really nice part of town, and very close to the subway, so it was easy to get everywhere. Host was very very helpful and accommodating with our late night arrival. Would definitely recommend it!

Very good place to stay if you are abble to feel good vibrations from the up to date space.

Wonderful loft apartment! Location is incredible - 2 seconds from the L train which is perfect if you want to check out the Williamsburg area, or go to Manhattan. The building was great - quiet and safe. The loft sells itself - it just like the pictures, but comes with a great host! (Thanks so much James). Laundry is on the corner of Bushwick street (drop off cost us 12 bucks and was ready the same day!). Perfect place to stay in New York - we will be back!! Thanks so much James!

James and his loft were fantastic! Unfortunately the area was not the experience we were looking for. If you are familiar with the area and want a get away from Manhattan, this place is perfect!

James was really great to deal with and communication was quick and easy. The loft itself is a great space, there were only two of us there, but it would easily accommodate more. Getting off at the Morgan Ave Subway stop is definitely easiest and the walk from the loft to that Subway stop will take you past most of the coolest cafes/restaurants/shops in that area. It's a very easy spot to get to Williamsburg and Manhattan from, whilst still giving you the feeling of living like a New Yorker.

We stayed here for a month (2 women, 33 nights) and we really enjoyed our stay at James place. James was a very warm host and he satisfied any additional wish quickly. The Loft is pretty much like what you can see on the pictures: high ceilings, industrial charm and really spacious. It is save and quite and the birds will wake you up on a sunday morning (unbelievable but true). Beside that, we really liked the neighborhood a lot. There are not so many shops yet, but what is there has a very good quality. On the way to the subway station (L-Train, Morgan Av Station) you will come to pass Momo Sushi Shack, 43 Bogart Street - you really have to go there. This was one of our absolute favorite restaurants in the whole city! The way to Manhattan is very comfortable - with the L-Train it takes you about 15 Minutes to Union Square and 20 Minutes to get to Meatpacking district and the walk to the station itself takes you less than 5 minutes. For all people who feel attracted by the pictures (like we did) we really highly recommend staying at this place.

The house is very nice, spacious and beautifully located. There is an excellent little restaurant next door with kind hosts. Unfortunately the internet conection almost non-existent, but I was told that in the summer season it is much better. James is very kind and responsive to any questions one has.

James Henry is a lovely host, and his artist loft was a great place to stay. We were two couples, so two of us slept in the living room. Unfortunately, the apartment had not been cleaned when we arrived, so we had to clean the entire place ourselves, including scrubbing down the bathroom which looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned for a good while. There weren't enough clean sheets for everyone, and the laundry from the former guests were still there. Because of this, James gave us our cleaning fee back, an apology and a bottle of wine. (He had been working abroad, so a friend of his was supposed to get the apartment ready for him.) We also (like the other guests that have written reviews) had problems with the heater in the main room. James tried to fix the heater, but because of it being Easter, he couldn't get a hold of the maintenance guy. We had some cold nights, but for the most part we didn't need the heater. I would check if it works before booking in colder months than April, with such a large space it could easily get cold. And: Guests should expect to wear shoes inside at all times, as the floors are kind of rough. The neighbourhood is excellent, with Roberta's as a must-visit restaurant and a handful of bars scattered around the nearest few blocks. The local deli, Brooklyn's Natural has a good selection of everyday groceries (and most of it is organic). For breakfast or late night dinners we went to Life Café. Wonderful little joint on Flushing Ave. All in all, a good stay.

My friend and I stayed at this huge place for 41 days starting at the begining of March. Apart from it´s size, the other very convenient feature of Jame´s loft is the fact that part of it is converted into a proper art studio, next to the windows in the living room, with a rough floor where you can work without being afraid of staining it. If you don´t know the area, take into account that it has quite a deserted semin-industrial look, with very few shops apart from some basic delis or a medium-sized supermarket a few blocks away. There are several building in the same style, renting lofts to artists in need of space. The amenities in the loft were enough for two guys who went to New York with the idea of working a lot in our art and eventually organise casual dinners with friends. The only problem we had was with the heater in the main room, which worked erratically. In spite of Jame´s good intentions, it was hard to find the technical guy. James was a warm and helpful host and he made sure we spent a good time in his loft.

Our stay at James' place was gorgeous! nicely decorated! This place is amazingly huge with high ceiling. Everything was great except.. the heater. The one in the living room did not work during our stay. Make sure it's fixed when you visit. Although the location and the loft was very nice, so I would highly recommend!

James is a stand up guy who is trustworthy and sensible. I've known him for a few years and can see that he shares his space as an open-minded, creative, well-seasoned traveller himself. His loft has a wonderful feel and offers a great frame from which to experience the city from. The apartment and location are tough to beat in Brooklyn... plus the vibe around the corner at Roberta's is memorable.
