  • My husband and I stayed in the Birdhouse for a week long getaway. We enjoyed the quiet and picturesque location of this apartment. The bus and subway system were easy and convenient to navigate from there. I was very impressed with the communication we received from Charlotte and the host prior and during our visit. We felt very well taken care of and comfortable in our home away from home.

  • Charlotte's apartment was quite nice. It provided us everything we needed for an extremely comfortable stay. It is convenient to downtown Washington DC and included a parking spot for our rental car! The property manager, Matthias, was very easy to reach with our questions and directions as needed. He was incredibly responsive. I would absolutely choose to stay in one of Charlotte's apartments again.

  • Highly recommended. The Studio was just as presented-- clean, and pleasant. The hosts were very helpful and terrific communicators who offered plenty of suggestions for things to do in the area, as well as transportation to DC. My daughter and friend stayed here and they couldn't say enough positive things about the studio and the experience with Charlotte.

  • Hi, I'm Steffen from Germany. I had a very comfortable stay in the Bird House. It's a small and pretty apartment. You find all what you need and the accomodation is very clean and cultivated. The landlord is very friendly and the communication between him and me was very well. I got many information about the environment and I had a contact person every time if I needed more information or help. I want recommend the Bird House all users of airbnb. Thanks for the nice time in Washington D.C. With best regards Steffen P.

  • Your bird house and its neighborhood is fantastic. Host was so kind, helpful and enjoyable to talk to. Loved the info sheet on area would have never know about a bus across street to the mall in DC was so much better than driving on confusing hwy traffic and high parking fees. Diane

  • My boyfriend and I had a great visit to D.C.-- in no small thanks to our hosts, Matthias and Charlotte. They were extremely helpful in providing information about the place itself, how to check in/out, and things to do/see in the area. The apartment itself is immaculately clean, comfortably furnished, and well decorated. We especially appreciated the full stock of kitchen appliances, linens, and detergent for the laundry machines; how many hotels offer a wine bottle-opener and clean clothes? We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to be back!

  • The Bird House was a perfect little apartment for us. It had everything we needed to have a really comfortable stay. The hosts even lent us a stroller for our baby which was so nice. It's decorated tastefully but minimally, is warm, has lots of conveniences like a fully equipped kitchen, extra towels, bedding and pillows, a nice shower, and just enough space. The neighborhood is also great - charming and useful. We made many trips to Mac Market and had a delicious meal from Et Voila. We would love to stay here again.

  • Our stay in the birdhouse was fantastic the Palisades is a really nice area totally safe and scenic and also convenient to get into town to sight see my parents even walked to the National Mall from the house! There was everything we needed from extra linen to any kind of kitchen utensil you could need and with shops and restaurants out the front door made for a very easy stay. Matthias was quick to respond to any queries we had and we recommend anyone to stay here.

  • It was the second time I stayed in an apartment of Charlotte. It was not the same apartment but this apartment met my expectation completly. And finally it was the best decision that I did. The equipment and the furniture are top. The neighborhood is very nice and quiet also. Every time when I come to Washington I'm gonna try to book an apartment of Charlotte.

  • My stay at The Bird House fulfilled my expectations. I think the best part, in addition to a great host, was that the bed was extremely comfortable and there was plenty of light (no basement place). The kitchen was stocked with high-end pots and pans, and the shower had great water pressure. Travelers like me care about these things a lot! The bus into DC takes about 15 minutes, depending on whether you're stopping in Georgetown or continuing in to the downtown area. I would definitely stay at a place hosted by Charlotte if The Bird House wasn't available.

I have been to 48 of our states and close to 50 countries so if you have a destination in mind I'll have something to tell you about it. We are quite knowledgeable on how best to experience the marvelous opportunities for cultural enrichment that make Washington unique amoung US cities. Meeting and interacting with our diverse guests is what attracted me to short-term rentals in the first place. I enjoyed it so much that I have created a business managing short-term rentals of Washington properties, LUXbnb.
