The house is in a vibrant area with lots of cool pubs, restaurants, bookstores, art galleries, grocery stores, banks, etc, but on a very quiet side street, so it offers the best of all worlds. No kitchen or common areas, host not in residence, just a wonderful location, and perfect for those seeking privacy. 1/2 block from Mass Ave., 1 block to MBTA. Wireless internet included, cable TV in each room, free parking subject to availability. Perfect for a friendly but focused professional/visiting professor/grad student. Harvard/MIT visiting professors and PhD students often stay here as well. It is a quiet environment, perfect for studying or quiet rest. Note: confidential key code provided prior to check-in. This is key-access service, host is not in residence. Caretaker nearby and from time to time in residence, always available to respond by phone or text to any problems, issues concerns or requests. Guests wishing interaction with a host would be most comfortable choosing a different accommodation. We provide a great location and lovely, comfortable, private rooms, no host interaction. Very great location near Harvard and MIT, it's also easy to reach Boston by foot or with the metro. Easy parking from Friday evening to Monday morning, nice street and the room was clean, spacious and almost quiet but a little bit hot as we were in the attic room with a small window. Comfortable bed. The bathroom on the 3rd floor would also deserve an light refurbishment. As there is no present host, I would advise you to check twice the room given to you, we had a double booking with someone checking late, not very nice (but it was quickly solved, thanks!).

The guy didn't gave us the number of the building so we had to walk up and down the street and try to catch him at the phone. After one hour we (website hidden)d it and found out. The wifi wasn't working at all.

Although we stayed in another room ( not the one pictured) it was exactly what we needed for our short stay in Boston. Despite John's absence and my last minute reservation of the place everything went really smooth with arriving and accessing the place. John was very thorough and quick to respond with his emails. The place itself is very well situated and is in a cute neighborhood. It is very close to the red line and Harvard square. All super close and well within walking distance.John also let us leave our bags there (after check out) before heading to the airport. My only issue with the place is that the bathroom is in the hallway/not en suite. This rental is a room in a bigger house. Other than that, I've got to say it was very positive. I would stay there again

Great value for the location. This was blocks away from Whole Foods, subway station AND had parking available. This was a necessity for us and most hotels charged an additional $45/day for parking...yeesh! The neighborhood was charming with rowhouses that had a lot of character.

The room was in an extremely convenient location, large and clean. The bathroom is shared by 3 "roommates" but is clean and reasonably stocked. I recommend this highly for those looking for an alternative experience to a luxury hotel at a very fair price.

The room was bright, clean and as it appeared in the photos, the shower was clean; I know its a little thing but there weere no hand towels to dry your hands and I was disappointed that I could not obtain internet access from Wi fi sever and other guest reported the same.

I am gald to live there. It is really thea special and sweet experience that I have not met before. If I have a chance to live in Boston, I will try to live there again.

Not recommended Its a run down old building--bathroom was old and unclean. At night after the other used it, the toilet was filthy. Huge duvets were hanging from the stairwell railings. No table and no glass to drink water from so don't forget to bring your own bottle of water. The front door was unlocked as people forget to lock it going in and out.

It's pretty much exactly as described. Nice rooms, good price, great location. However, it doesn't mention that each floor has three rooms with one shared bathroom. I thought it was fine, but I know some people would be put off by that. If I end up in town in the future, I'd gladly stay here again. If, like me, you're driving in and want to leave your car, there are a couple options. A lot at Prospect & Bishop Richard Allen is free on nights and weekends, though can't be used during the day. There's also a lot on Green, just west of Pleasant, owned by Pilgrim Parking; it's $21 per day, or $13 if you move to the free lot at night, though that's certainly not convenient. There might be cheaper options elsewhere in the city.

Positives: Location, location, location and keyless entry - and the friends I was with made it a great weekend. Negatives: everything that was said before . . . bathroom needs help - moldy shower curtain and ceiling, dirty grout, broken towel rack. Kitchen didn't even have a corkscrew (we might have left the one we bought there) and a few pots and pans and basic kitchen cooking utensils and a toaster would be nice so that you don't have to eat all meals out. They could also clean a bit more thoroughly - we found a dirty sock under one of the futons. The apartment feels like someone had an extra empty basement apartment that they went to a yard sale to furnish and put minimal money and effort into making it into an airbnb rentai. With a bit more care, attention and furnishings, this could be a really nice place.

The apartment was an a great location. We walked everywhere and felt very safe. Overall, the stay was positive, but the kitchen and bathroom were a bit tattered and didn't feel extremely clean. The bed was comfortable but the main blanket was a sleeping bag in a duvet cover. I'm a bit too high maintenance to choose to stay here again, but I think it would be great as a bachelor pad or lower maintenance group.

We had a good stay at this apartment. It was spacious and true to description. John was very responsive to all our questions. The kitchen and bathroom may not look appealing, but everything in the apartment is functional. All-in-all, I would stay here again and would recommend it to friends and family.

Great and very reliable hosts, and super fast at responding to our needs when we stayed. convenient and cute location. Overall the apartment was pretty bare, nothing fancy, but was clean had everything we needed. the locations was really convenient for us, cute restaurants, bars near by and was super close to south station on the subway. The apartment was definitely worth it for the price and saved us a good chunk of change than if we were to stay in a hotel in the area.
