This is a sunny, furnished apt in a great part of town, the Lower East Side. Right on Rivington close to Clinton - the best area in the Lower East Side, close to great restaurants, shops, and other vibrant neighborhoods. Walking distance to the East Village, Nolita, and Soho. Five-minute walk the F, J, M & Z subway lines. It’s a 15-minute walk to Whole Foods.

The room itself is small (8x10) in a furnished 2BR apartment. The apartment is clean, has great Eastern and Northern light, there's an equipped kitchen, a nice living room, a very cozy queen-sized bed, writing table, book case, art books, TV, wifi, bascially everything you need. Open to a single person or a couple - though an additional $15 per night for a couple.

Derek is a very easygoing and respectful host. The apartment is conveniently located in the East Village, 5 min walk to the subway, 15 min walk to SoHo or Chinatown. I enjoyed my stay there and I found some nice restaurants nearby. Derek is also a good resource for the neighborhood good finds. I recommend this place to single or couple travelers.

Nice room, clean, and a decent location. It was difficult to arrange a time to check in due to host's schedule. It might be a good idea to ask a friend to help out in this area, due to international flights, traffic, etc. Overall a good experience, Thanks Derek.

Derek's place was just what I was looking for. I was provided a comfortable bed in an apartment that is in a good location. It is easy to make your way all over Manhattan from Derek's place and into Brooklyn as well. Derek was welcoming and friendly but I did not see too much of him during my stay because I was out and about most of the time.

Well, I think I've found my defacto, go-to place to stay in NYC. This is the second time I've stayed at Derek's and though he wasn't around, he was still an impeccable host. Great communication. Hope to be back in the near future.

I had a great time at Derek’s place! Very nice apartment in an old NYC house in a great LES neighborhood. I did not have the chance of meeting Derek in person during my stay but he was very helpful and friendly as a remote host. i can definitely recomend the place!

I recommend Derek's place, it's definitely an excellent solution for a single traveller. While the pictures displayed in the profile are the ones of the main room of the apartment, they however provide a good context to understand the kind of accommodation offered. The flat is well kept, ordered and clean. The guest room (although smaller than the main one) perfectly fits one person, it could even accommodate two, albeit it'll require dealing with limited space for arranging luggage and other personal belongings. The room offered is located in a characteristic building, typical for the LES area (therefore do not be surprised if you don't find a lift, those buildings were not meant to have one). Other benefit is its location in one of the most exciting areas in Manhattan, on top of that the Delancey-Essex subway station is just 5 minutes walk away. Last Detail, there is a deposit to cover for the stay, which will be refund on check out. Derek is extremely kind helpful and supportive. He is a correct and very respectful host that will do everything to accommodate his guest at best while respecting their privacy. I really enjoyed my stay and I wholeheartedly recommend Derek's Lower East Side room.

The apt is conveniently located a couple of blocks south of Houston: walking distance from the alphabet city (=lots of fun at night) and pretty well connected via the essex and Delancy metro station. Colorful Puertorican neighbourhood, a bit shady only very rarely: felt very safe 90% of the time, but keep a good eye on your surroundings. The room I rented is pretty small but everything you need is there. Derek is a laid back and friendly host, flexible and tidy (his place his in good shape and you will have access to a clean bathroom). Since Derek works at home I felt like not disturbing him too much with my silly questions and the like, but I guess I has lots to talk about though. I would come back again to Derek's place: overall nice experience + fairly good value for the location.

Very nice apartment...real NYC experience, away from all of the too crowded areas... would suggest to everybody who like Lower East Side of Manhattan and are looking a place with cool atmosphere and nice own getaway place inside the Big Apple. Derek was very helpful and everything in check-in or check-out worked out very well and we got answers to all of our questions very quickly!

Great location, good flat, this place was perfect for our stay. Great food options and shops and bars, really great mixed safe neighbourhood, close to transport, Derek was communicative and responsive. Apartment was as it appeared in photos. Only issue I should mention is that we were two friends travelling together, not a couple, and there is only one building key available, I should have asked about this before booking as this changed the way we made our plans significantly. The flat and Derek were great but had I known the key issue we would have booked somewhere else, but if this is not an issue for you then I have no hesitation in recommending.

Derek's apartment was just what we were after - close to all the cafe's and restaurants in the Lower East Side but at the end of Rivington Street which meant it was quieter. The apartment was clean and cozy, and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in LES.

Great apartment and location. Derek was the perfect host, helping out with advice generally, and specifically over the hurricane panic weekend, providing much needed local knowledge when it was required. Highly recommend his place and wouldn't hesitate to use it again.

An overall good deal . This cosy appartment was just like the pictures, and situated in a cool area (very well connected via the Delancey -Essex station).
