Orion!.....a unique way to spend a weekend or a week in the heart of Boston. “Orion” is a 14' x 44’ 1997 catamaran houseboat, moored at Shipyard Quarters Marina, next door to the USS Constitution in the chic and historic Charlestown Navy Yard. Minutes from any downtown location by foot, water shuttle, or free bus, discover Boston’s waterfront right “in the water”! Float! is just a few minutes walk from Boston's Freedom Trail, the Bunker Hill Monument and Pavilion, the USS Constitution and Museum, and landmark restaurants such as Todd English's Olives and the Warren Tavern, one of Paul Revere's favorite haunts. Minutes away by free bus or $1.75 water shuttle are the New England Aquarium, Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall, Boston’s Italian North End, a large outdoor neighborhood swimming pool, a free tennis court, a public skating rink, and countless other things to see and do.

If you are arriving by car, you will avoid the hassle and expense of finding and paying for downtown parking. There is a parking garage 2 blocks away which charges $18/day. You then will have the choice of using your own car for excursions away from downtown or availing yourself of the water shuttle or free bus service for local destinations.

Stayed 9/12-15th. What a great way to "see" Boston. Easy to get to once you figure out how (free MGH/Partners bus in front of the 24 hour convenience store) that goes to North Station. My daughter found this gem and I have to admit I was hesitant. But, would go back in a minute. Did not have two bedrooms but one bedroom and a pull-out in the living area. But that was OK. Have to get use to small bathroom facilities.

Very nice experience. We stayed 8/22-29/2008 and enjoyed ourselves. It was much better than a hotel room (same in every city) and once we learned to use public transportation we could get anywhere we wanted to. Keeping in mind that it is(email hidden)d houseboat, they have done everything to make the stay comfortable and fun. Would do it again

Our group was the first to stay on the KonTiki. What a wonderful way to visit Boston. There were 5 children in our group and they loved the houseboat. They used all the decks and felt like they were living on a playground. It is in a perfect location. We never drove the car once we parked it in the free marina lot. We took the T, the ferry, or walked to see everything there is to see in Boston. Andy was terrific about making sure we enjoyed our stay. We could not have found a better place to stay in Boston.

This must be what an infant feels like. Every now and then someone comes along and rocks your cradle ever so gently just to make you feel safe. Usually, on vacation, you can't wait to get out and get going. On the Float!, you just want to take your coffee outside and enjoy what God gave you...the sun, the sky and the water. Thank God we know Boston well, because we wanted to stay on board as long as we could in the morning doing just that. A minor mishap occurred because of a previous renter, but it did absolutely nothing to hurt our stay. It is spacious enough, clean, comfortable and delightful. I don't sail, so don't let that stop you from experiencing the houseboat. It's so gentle, you hardly notice the sway, and at night, when you're in bed, it's downright comforting. We had a wonderful 44th Anniversary on board and hope to celebrate our 45th there as well.

What a contrast to a hotel in a big city, and a relaxing getaway offering easy access to the sights of Boston! The boat is clean, quaint and cozy, and was recently moved to a dock providing less motion and better views. It's equipped with all the comforts of home--dishes, utensils, linens, etc.-- including a much appreciated coffee maker, filters and coffee in the freezer! We stayed mid-May and would have loved kinder weather as it was rainy and windy at times-- but it will be fabulous for guests this summer and fall. Do not worry about motion; it is gentle and peaceful, and as other guests have commented, the soft rocking lulls one easily to sleep. Hop a water taxi for $1.75 to the Aquarium, Legal Seafood restaurant, Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market and other sights along Freedom Trail. Be sure to check out the State House and take the free tour. Walk to the REAL Cheers bar. Also spend time on Old Ironsides, its museum and the 2nd WW battleship nearby, all free and in easy walking distance. For dinner head to the north end, laden with Italian fare--our favorite was "Cibo" soon to be renamed "Ponza"--everything made fresh and to order, and reasonable. There's lots more to do but we just had a few days this time and those were the highlights. Andy was a thoughtful and caring host (with a great sense of humor!), always available when we had any questions. The crescendo was his connection with a water taxi service that picked us up at our dock ($30/couple plus tip) and whisked us to a hotel where we picked up a free 5-min. bus to the airport. All in all, very enjoyable and highly recommended!

Oh my words can't even describe the fun time we had renting the House Boat Float. When you walked on land you could still feel rocking motion. Me and the kids never slept so good. The rocking at night is awesome. We could walk every where and I'm from the area so I know all the good places to eat and buy gifts to bring home. We loved the boat so much we couldn't wait to get back to the boat and just hang out on the top deck the lower front door deck in the morning was perfect for Dunkins coffee right around the corner and wine and drinks at night and watch the gorgeous sunset, watch the planes come and go and the night lights just seem to appear. My two teens cooked on the grill on the back deck. We had the best time and the best laughs. I'm planning to rent again July 09 Excellent way to vaca, August is always good weather to go to Boston Oh by the way the AC works awesome in the boat if you have hot days. We opened the windows on days we didn't care about the heat. It's a wonderful way to Holiday Leah
