Overall, it was a pleasant stay! I've supplied my review in list form for easy perusal. Please know that entries in the CONS list are given in the spirit of helpful feedback for future visitors. PROS (@) The big plus is the location: - Nicely designed modern apt. - Nice airey "feel" to the upstairs area! - It's on a quiet block. - It *feels* residential. - The neighborhood itself is young and arty. - You can walk to a BART station (Powell St). - Great starting point for the best of S.F. - North of the Mission District. We walked it! - South of popular S.F. sites. Easy to navigate. - Joe is easy to reach, very amicable! - Had whole apt. to ourselves -- Chris was away. - Terrific internet café nearby. - Very quiet for sleeping. - Very safe. CONS - Apt. not quite as clean as it appears in photo. - Unfortunately, supplied airbed leaked. [Fortunately, there was a comfy upstairs sofa.] - Someone filled sink with dirty dishes. - Bathroom stuff could be better organized: [clear instrux for shower; vanity sorted out] - Kitchen was messy overall, needs housekeeping. - Both washer & dryer stuffed with clothing. - Fridge filled with [old] food. - Unable to use cell phone within apt. - Overall impression: Felt like a college freshman's apt, cleanliness-wise. SUMMARY: This was our first AirBnB experience. It was pretty good. But I think attention to cleanliness in the kitchen and laundry areas would go a long way towards attracting the adventurous 40-to-60 year old crowd. They are also the ones who will be least likely to trash your place, a major consideration. Happy trails, FWIW, Joy Chu PS: The Eames are my heroes too.

Good base from which to explore San Francisco. Nice room with full private bathroom. We didn't see much of Housemate Chris, but he was very welcoming. Joe was very quick to reply to all enquiries and the whole booking was very easy.

There were lots of things that were GREAT about our experience. The flexibility (it was wonderful that we could come in at a slightly different time than we had planned, drop our bags, and come back at the agreed upon time); having a kitchen and a whole home were terrific. I also love the whole concept of AirBnB--it works for people who travel and it helps people who have apartments in expensive cities. And it meant we had contact with people who live in the city, too--which we really enjoyed. There were a couple of things that were a little difficult--at least for those of us in our 40s and 50s and we want to just point them out. First, Chris is a really great host but there was one thing that was a bit hard for us: when we came in there were a lot of dirty dishes in the sink and most of those dishes stayed there for the whole week we were there. I know that this was a particularly busy week for AirBnB. But still, it would have been great to have those dishes done. Then, where we lived was AirBnB head quarters which was great in lots of ways. One thing that would have improved our experience was if we had known ahead of time that the noise and conviviality that happened some evenings would be of limited duration. It was always only for a couple of hours and always ended at a reasonable time, but it would have been helpful to know that ahead of time as when you don't know a house, you don't know whether it's going to interrupt your sleep, etc. Then, there's one thing I wanted to ask about: is there any way in AirBnB to find out what kinds of things a living situation already has? Things like blowdryers, clocks, a teakettle (or a small pot to boil water for coffee in) are important to me and weren't available. This wasn't a real problem and I'll just ask about it next time I use AirBnB but I wanted to bring it up as there may an easy way to list some of this kind of thing for different residences and the kinds of things I'm asking about are things that I bet many people would use, want to know about. AirBnB is great--we really loved it. These suggestions are meant in the spirit of wanting to improve an already great experience. Thank you Joe and Chris!

PERFECT ! It was our first experience with airB&B, it was great ! the loft is 10 minutes walk from Market street. it was easy to find, the room was perfect and we used the kitchen for our dinner and breakfast. i recommend this address. Joe, Chris, Thanks for your help ! If I come back in Sf, I will probably come back to your soft. !!

Joe was a great host. We talked about Airbnb and the story behind it. I only stayed for one night and wanted to stay longer. The place was comfortable. Be Aware: the bed is super comfortable.

Joe, Brian, and the AirBnB crew are one of the most interesting, thoughtful, and *fun* groups of people I've ever met. It was a blast to stay at the "Launchpad". Appreciated the toiletries and towels laid out on my bed when I arrived -- I didn't have to root around for them. +5000 Awesome Points, and best of luck in the future.

Joe and the entire AirBnB team are an amazing group of guys. I would definitely stay with them again. They provided everything I could ask for (airbed, pillow, blanket, toiletries, and even breakfast). Also, he gave me my own key to the place so I could come and go as often as I wanted. What can I say - as one of the great minds behind this site, Joe lived up to my expectations! He and his roommates were very inviting, and a blast to get to know. We geeked it up until 3am discussing code and entrepreneurship (essentially my stay turned into a very affordable consulting session... where else but on this site can a "hotel" be so enlightening). I absolutely love AirBnB, and it was inspiring to meet the founders. Thanks for still hosting guests despite your continued hard work on the site!

No doubt that Joe is a great host. He responded to my request within only 5 hours. The very first night, we went to a party hosted by mySpace; what more you can expect from your host. After my 13 hours flight from London, I felt like at home in San Francisco. WiFi connection at the place is super fast.

We played basketball together, and I can tell you this is one stand up dude. I hope you get a chance to know Joe too!

A great way to stay in the heart of San Francisco at a price that is unbelievable. The concept of staying with locals for that "valued added touch" while you travel is certainly true. All three roommates wanted to make sure I got the most out of my time and they succeeded. Will definitely use AB&B again on future trips. Joseph J.

Joe would make a great guest in someone's home because he is very considerate and well- mannered. He will take off his shoes at the front door, he will be respectful towards your property, and quiet when necessary not to disturb anyone. With all that being said, if your are looking to have a conversation with him he is absolutely amazing - "brilliant" might be a better word - full of interesting stories and experiences that will keep you laughing and leave you energized and inspired. Joe is easy company and a great guy! He has been a guest in my home several times in the past and I look forward to him coming back. He will forever and always be welcomed here!
