THE APARTMENT:
This is a very bright, clean space with all white, newly painted walls. Some exposed brick in the livingroom which gives it an arty feel. Livingroom is spacious for New York standards, which means it fits both a futon/couch and a dinner table with room for 4-5. (Remember that most New York apartments are much smaller than in many other cities). The kitchen and bathroom are both almost brand new. Kitchen has a big fridge, stove, oven, microwave and plenty of shelf space for you if you need it. Now I also have a coffee pot and toaster. The bathroom comes with bathtub/shower - very cool, bright theater style lights above mirror and also here lots of space for your things. Hairdryer to borrow.
There is a 19" flatscreen tv in the livingroom with the regular public network - no cable.
THE BEDROOM:
It's not big but comfortable (see pictures). Comes with a new (Oct -09) full size bed (137 cm/56") that comfortably fits two people. Also has a reading lamp and there is a shelving unit for your things. There is a big closet in the bedroom with hangers and shelves and room for your suitcase. The closets are smartly built between the two bedrooms creating a buffert so there is minimum noise heard between the rooms. Window facing the street gives lots of light and it's fun to watch the East Village life happening below.
The room can be arranged to fit three people with one sleeping on a twin mattress on the floor. This is a crowded solution as the room is small but price is good with just 120 USD/night for 3.
THE AREA:
It's the best area in New York in my (and many others) opinion! Great restaurants, bars and cafés on every corner and some of my absolute favorites are on the same block like Brazilian restaurant/bar "Esperanto" with great food and live music, or Life Café that is known for its burger and with a street terrace opposite the park. Since we are on Ave C it's a bit more quiet and less traffic than more busy Ave A or 1. (Remember though that New York never sleeps so ear plugs could be a good idea for light sleepers - especially on weekends when bars are open later). Tompkins Square Park is just one block away and opposite the apartment there is a green community garden so you can actually see some trees from the window, rare in Manhattan. There is a good priced supermarket just one short block away and a liqour shop is even closer.
You can walk easily to bar packed Lower East Side, the shopping on Broadway or transportation hub Union Sqr. The closest subway (1st Ave stop on L line) is 7 blocks away (8-10 min walk) and will take you directly to cool Williamsburg, to Union Sqr or the cosy West Village. It also connects with almost every other subway line in Manhattan. Many buses stop outside the front door.

OTHER INFO:
I will provide clean linen and towels. If you are two friends sharing the bed I can give you 2 separate twin comforters. I keep the place very clean. There is no smoking in the apartment. I will be happy to point you in the direction of the best spots in Manhattan and I have maps and guidebooks for you to borrow. There is free wifi in all the apartment for you to use.
Also: I've heard of people renting from others that sometimes there is no extra matress as promised or they only get one set of keys when they were told two and hosts don't show up when they are supposed to. For me it's important that things are as said and that you can always reach me with questions. That is why I try to answer all inquiries as quickly as possible and I am available on my cell and email during your stay.
