Description

The space

Woodthorpe Park is close by and we are a short walk from transport links into Nottingham City Centre which is two miles south of us.

We live in the old part of Woodthorpe which typically has large detached traditional houses on wide tree lined avenues. Ours is a quiet road and we have a large garden in which we keep chickens and bees. Ask about our home produced eggs and honey!

Guest access

In addition to your bedroom you will have access to the shared bahroom and guest kitchen. You will also have access to the washing machine and dryer on the ground floor and to the garden.

Interaction with guests

We live in the house and will be happy to help with any problems or information if we can. Please do ask if you need help with access to the washing machine or can't find any of the amenities listed or if breakfast supplies need topping up.

The neighborhood

Ours is a quiet road with minimal traffic noise. We live close to Woodthorpe Grange Park which is worth a visit and has a short golf course as well as a tropical plant house. The nearest supermarket is about 5 to 10 minutes walk away and there are a number of restaurants in Sherwood which is about 15 minutes by foot.

Getting around

We live a short walk (3 minutes) from the nearest bus stop into the city centre. The bus journey takes around 10 to 15 minutes off peak.
We also have ample free parking outside the house.

Other things to note

Supplies are provided in the kitchen for you to prepare your own breakfast. This includes milk, tea, coffee, sugar, orange juice , bread, butter or spread, a choice of breakfast cereals, our own eggs (if the hens are laying!) honey from our bees and some home made jams.
The window in the bedroom is at a high level. Steps are provided to help open and close the blinds and to view the garden!
This is a large old house and whilst it is cleaned regularly please bear in mind that the carpets and furniture are not pristine or modern!
We have provided a TP link to improve wifi access but it can still be a problem in this room. When it is access in the adjacent kitchen is usually still good.

Basic room but clean, nice residential location, facilities to self cater and friendly hosts. Easy access to transport for town Centre and walkable to City Hospital (helpful given parking is so difficult).

I was received by Mike at nearly midnight with absolutely no problems. He then proceeded to carry my own bags up the stairs and subsequently given a tour of the house. Good sized room (bigger than it seems in pictures) with the added benefit of amenities right by the room. Only negative would be the Internet being unstable inside the room (though it was fine when just outside). Also the home made honey is marvelous.

This is a really lovely place to stay and Marie was very friendly and helpful, as were the other guests. The kitchen was sufficient for our needs and it was good to have fridge space available.

I am married to Mike and have 4 children in their late teens and early twenties. I enjoy gardening and looking after our chickens and bees. I also have another house that I look after. I enjoy going to the gym and have a couple of voluntary jobs to keep me busy.
We love this house and have hosted overseas students for over ten years and look forward to meeting new guests
