This is an original timber loft in Downtown Chicago, located just outside the loop, in the less traffic'd Fulton Market District, home to some of the city's most acclaimed restaurants. Only steps from all the action, and nearly every public transportation option Chicago has to offer.
Conveniently located just 1 block from the Green Line "EL" Stop. And 10 minutes walk (.5 mile) to all train and bus lines in the loop, as well as Union & Oglivie Train Stations.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a SHARED loft arrangement. This is not a hostel, nor a hotel, nor a bed & breakfast. This is my home, and I cater to both domestic and international travelers. This is for someone that is ok with a shared situation and who wants to stay with a Chicagoan and not in a hotel with other travelers. I love meeting travelers, and showing my city off.
I have an additional listing for leasing the entire loft http://www.airbnb.com/rooms/61229
GUEST ACCOMMODATIONS INCLUDE:
• Plush Queen Size Bed
• Clean, fresh linens & towels
• FREE WiFi
• Access to common area, full kitchen, and restrooms
• Complimentary body wash, shampoo & conditioner
• Complimentary: Coffee, Tea.
• The kitchen is available if you want to prepare your own meals.
Sleeping arrangements:
I sleep in a spare room outside the loft space, but we will be sharing the kitchen, living room and bathrooms. Consider this loft in the same way you would a communal living space with semi-private sleeping arrangements, and feel free to make yourself at home.
Important:
There are few things that you need to know about timber loft spaces before you book with me. There are no doors in this loft except the closets and bathrooms, and the walls between rooms are soft, meaning they don't go all the way to top of the ceiling. The bedroom has a curtain and a room divider to provide visual privacy, but sound travels within spaces like this. This is a major city and there are alot of city sounds (traffic, EL, people, etc.), even at night (something to consider if you are a light sleeper.) It's all a part of the charm of loft living.
I am couples-friendly, gay-friendly, and pet-friendly (with a little pre-screening or deposit.) I have a small Boston Terrier who is quieter than a mouse, but loves to cuddle and play, so naturally, you should be comfortable around dogs.
GETTING AROUND
This neighborhood is across the river from the Chicago Loop central business district (10 minute walk), and the River North neighborhood (15 minute walk). Nearly every major public transportation option is less than 10 minutes walking distance from my home. Amtrak & Metra Trains( Union & Ogilivie Stations), Plus Red, Blue, Green, Purple,Brown, Orange, Pink "L" trains in the Loop. Plus many bus routes. Taxis are also plentiful. Close to the expressway. Garage parking is available down the street for $11 a day (without out privileges.)
If you are coming from the airport: O'Hare is about a 50 minute trip via the Blue Line train plus a transfer to the green line at Clark and Lake Station (or a simple $5 cab). Midway is about a 40 minute trip via the Orange Line), with plus a transfer to the green line at Clark and Lake Station (or again a $5 cab). You then can get off on the first stop, Clinton Street station and walk to 2 blocks.
