About this listing

Beautifully located self contained cottage, only 8 minutes from the centre of Amsterdam, with amazing views over the dutch countryside & canal in front of the house. 2 bikes are included, and coffee, tea, Wifi, satellite tv, bedlinen and towels also.

The space

Beautifully located self contained cottage, only 8 minutes from the centre of Amsterdam, with amazing views over the dutch countryside. 2 bikes included!

Freestanding cottage with own bathroom, kitchenette, living area and upstairs bedroom with super comfortable double bed.

The cottage is on the same grounds as our house, surrounded by our large beautiful garden, with open view over the countryside and next to the canal that leads straight into Amsterdam! We live in a perfect place just 10 minutes from Amsterdam and 15 minutes from lovely trips to Volendam or Marken and the rest of Waterland.

So it's the best of both worlds: close to the city and still you're in a nice and quiet area with lovely views over typical dutch landscape with meadows and grazing cows.

We have 2 bikes available for biking trips around Waterland, with it's cute historic villages, or you can rent a boat and explore this area from the water or even navigate your way into Amsterdam for a trip to the van Gogh museum, Anne Frank house or see stunning new architecture on the waterfront of the IJ. Shopping, clubbing or visiting a wonderful restaurant or brewery is also highly recommended!

Coffee and tea are always available, as well as a few basics to get you started.

Nearby is/are a pancake restaurant, tea garden, organic farms to visit, dress yourself up in Volendam like a true fishermen or find yourself in Marken, a village like it was 100 years ago where you can watch how they carve wooden shoes. Also de Zaanse Schans with its old windmills is well worth a visit.

There are lots of things to do and we would gladly help you with tips, maps and planning.

Who are we? We are Bas & Margot, our children Bink and Pippa, and our cats Mimoun and Nooky. Up till 3 years ago we lived in the centre of Amsterdam, our beloved city. But because we wanted more view and a bit of quiet, we moved here...and haven't regret it since!

Parking is free in front of our house and there is public transport 2 minutes from our house. We also know a parking garage in the city centre that won't set you back to many euros!

You can use our beautiful garden. It is also possible to do some washing in the washing machine in the big house. If you need anything at all we will always try to help you out!

A great little house in a very pretty location next to the river. The host provides bikes and it is a short distance to the bus stop and other lovely villages which are well worth visiting. Margot is a lovely host .

Everything has worked, as it is descripted. Bikes are added value for this place. Even, if You are not enthusiast (I am), biking to and in the city is best way how to enjoy Amsterodam. The ride to Amsterodam CS takes 25 min, easy for orientation (bikeway by the water), on the road you can visit very nice windmill (open every second saturday in the month). Highly recommended! This is a lovely cottage and very peaceful.. Margot was a great host. It's about 10min bus journey out of the city which is not hard to get to. We were able to ride bikes for free around the village which was very scenic. Highly recommended.

A lovely cottage in a lovely region! The communication with Margot was great, on our first day she even picked us up from the bus stop by car to get to the cottage :)

This was our first time in Europe and staying here made it very pleasant. We loved the beautiful views of the Dutch countryside. Margot showed us some very nice local places including a beautiful small village north of Amsterdam. We were not bothered the whole trip. It felt like our own place.

Margot's place is awesome! It's not too far from the city but yet is peaceful and quiet like the countryside. The cottage was clean and tidy and Margot was really helpful throughout our stay.
