I'm a hotel professional and am happy to offer my newly renovated 1890's home for guests vising Washington DC. Just 1 block from the bus stop and a block and a half from the Potomac Ave Metro Station on the Blue and Orange line. It's a 15 minute walk to the Capital building. Great restaurants and neighborhood perks like Eastern Market, Barrack's Row, the National's Park and RFK Stadium all within walking distance too.

The room has a wonderful pillow top queen mattress, a desk, two windows facing west and other amenities for a comfortable stay. Umbrella provided and other conveniences like fresh towels, sheets, maps and other information available. The home has blonde bamboo floors, mostly new appliances, WiFi, sklylights, a water filtration system and other amenities. Washer/dryer is available for use as well. BONUS -- you get your own bathroom too and yes, there will be little soaps and shampoo for you!

Longterm stays negotiable.

My cat Stoli-O lives here too. He has lots of personality and can be kept out of your way if you prefer -- otherwise he might want to curl up with you.

I'm fluent in Polish and can understand some Spanish (I'm working on that!)

I look forward to hearing from you. Let me know what questions I can answer for you.

  • Gena was a generous and hospitable host. The room was great as was the private bathroom. The home is close walking distance to the Metro and also had a great grocery store and variety of amazing restaurants within easy to get to on foot. This was my first time using airbnb. I'm sold!

  • Gena is a wonderful, generous and trusting host. I WILL visit again. The house and location are also great.

  • Gena is a wonderful host. When I was at her place, I felt the one at home while she was the guest :) I felt very comfortable and her house is more of a single Presidential Suite in a 5 stars hotel: the coziest bed I have ever slept in, wood and colorful painting, clean kitchen and loaded fridge, internet and TV and all one might need. The place is very well located, metro and walk on sunny days. Lucky you, the next guest !

  • Cozy house, awesome bed and a good location (close to metro and supermarket). This was my first Airbnb experience and although it was a very short stay I would definitely recommend it. Getting from here to the main attractions in DC was super easy and Gena is a great host!

  • Gena was a great host and her house was comfortable and quirky. It was located close to a Metro stop, and also a short walk from the Eastern Market district where there was lots of great food and bars. Thanks, Chris

  • Where to start! The place was cleaner than most hotel room, tons of clean towers, soap, shampoo, drinking water, juices and BEER! Gina was wonderful! flexible with my crazy schedule and so hospitable! The bedroom feels like a boutique hotel, very unique, so quiet, dark when you want it to be…. I love the oversize mirror and the art. Gina clearly has some great knowledge and understanding about hospitality. The location was just perfect, I paid $14.50 for a taxi to the airport and $7 to $9 to go around the city. Overall is my favor place in CD and will not stay anywhere else! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

  • Gena was a very gracious hostess and her home was charming and attractive. She was also very nice to me by inviting me to her birthday party which, although I was easily the "elder guest," was a lot of fun and her friends are nice, interesting people. Her cat, whose name escapes me, has a very pleasant personality and was good company! The location was very convenient for bus and subway access and there was a nice selection of restaurants just a few blocks away. All in all, a very nice experience for a midwesterner.

  • This was a pleasant stay in a clean medium size room with a joining private bathroom. The street was quiet and the public rooms were limited to a backyard and a kitchen, stocked with all sorts of drinks and snacks and breakfast foods. I would stay here again. Not having a radio and/.or a TV was both a plus and minus. I would have liked to have zonked out with a TV but instead I had a longer and more restful overnight sleep.

  • It was a pleasure staying at Gena's Hospitality@HillEast. As a first-time visitor to Washington DC, her quaint house was a true home away from home. I wanted a comfortable and convenient location near a Metro station and that is exactly what I got. Oh, and the bed sleeps like a dream! Gena's friendly hospitality was great. I arrived much later than anticipated due to my flight being delayed, but this was no trouble to Gena. She also provided valuable information on transportation from Dulles airport, which helped me tremendously.

  • gena was very generous in letting me share her kitchen-of course i cleaned up after! the location also suited me fine for the purpose i was in dc. having a food store on the corner is a big plus.highly recommended !

More about the host
  • Groups: Wine, Running, Musicians on Tour
  • Work: Hotel Management
  • About: Female working professional. +Spends much time working at a hotel or socializing +Is low drama +Is a clean as you go person and expects the same +Very easy going and hangs in the master wing of the house most of the time +Drives a beater car +Great tour guide and can steer you to the finer watering holes in DC I've updated my profile with groups! Musician -- no, Groupie -- YES! I love live music. I average 15 to 20 shows a year. 9:30 Club, Black Cat, some of the bigger venues too. I've even travelled & booked trips around concerts. I have an electric guitar at home (which I have not started lessons for because I'm not sure if I'm a lefty or righty or a lefty who plays righty). Additionally, it has been a dream of mine to play the drums since I was 10 years old. Rock Band just doesn't even come close. Running is a newish concept. I ran the Napa to Sonoma half marathon in July and cross trained with the Wine Aficionados. Most people don't realize there are some very good Northern Virginia wineries an hour's drive from DC. Barrel Oak and Chrystalis are two to get shout outs. I'm more of a Vodka Aficionado, but I can appreciate good grape too. So -- if you come out to DC and like concierge recommentations and are interested in a show, good food and/or drinks.... welcome home!
