  • AVOID THIS PLACE AT ANY COST!!!! Problems for almost everything (from the arrival to the departure) - unfriendly, agressive and freakout host - appartment with the minimum confort - host asking always for more money that was agreed upon, pretexting it is for the cleaning Here is my experience: - before the reservation, the host lied about the size of a bed to share (she said it was queen but it was double) - the host almost canceled at the last minut because we were 2 guests and that we were asking for the double of the keys - she forced us to go to Columbia University to get the keys - we never got the double of the keys - 4 stairs to climb and more if we go at the wrong stairs - because she doesn't tell us before - she gave us a second bed that was so bad it was useless - even that, she was asking repetively and agressively for another 60$ for the cleaning - even it the hour of leaving and arrival is said to be flexible, she forced me to leave at 11hAM in the morning and didn't allow me to let my luggage at the appartment even if my plane was in the evening.

  • Cindy's apartment is clean and well situated, near to the subway and the hudson river (the view is beautiful). The neighborhood is safe, we had no problems during our stay. The host gave us, spontaneously, good recommendations about restaurant and the best way to come to the apartment before arriving. She regularly send us messages to know if we need something. Nice.

  • The place itself was certainly nice, the bed was good and everything was clean. You had a kitchen, bathroom that had to be shared with two other room mates. The host, Cindy, was amazing even though we kept missing each other with meeting - she went though an amazing stretch and did a lot of effort to help me with any situations. The only concern is the location, when you would walk these streets at night alone you would probably not feel safe. Luckily I stayed there with a friend and we managed fine. Other things to concern is that there was no thermostat to set the room temperature, and the room was really hot. Opening the windows solved the problem tough, but for the summer months it could be a problem. In the end the place was totally worth the price, for the price the stay was right - however I would personally try find a place nearer to the center of the Manhattan and pay the extra.

  • The House of Cindy is very clean and quiet. Cyndy is a very good host. It helped me in everything. The appartament is very very closely to the line 1 neighborhood is safe.

Nice and clean apartment. Near to train stations that can take you to many places. Cultural neighborhood but it is safe. The host was very helpful so ask if you need any assistance or request during your stay.

  • Great spot in Hamilton Heights/Harlem. Just down the block from the 1 station, and about 3-4 blocks west of the other subway lines. Apartment was clean, comfortable, and though we didn't cook much the kitchen had most of what was needed (sans toaster). We stayed in the middle room, good for a couple without tons of luggage. Cindy was nice enough to provide an iron when asked. Felt safe even walking home late at night. Sylvia's is about a half hour walk or 10 min cab ride away, best soul food! :)

  • My stay here was very good. The apartment is very close to the number 1 subway and if you switch to the express 2 on 96st street, you can get anywhere in town very fast. Note: Once you're buzzed in, you need to go through the two first doors, go right, then through two more doors and then take the stairs, NOT the stairs that you get to by going through the first two doors, walking straight to the end of the hall and turning left! The apartment is on the 4th floor with no elevator, which, with my two suitcases was a challenge, but it is well worth it once you're inside. Cindy is a very accommodating person who (after getting me a glass of cold water to help me recover from the stairs) was very welcoming and had a lot of good advice on, not only the apartment and the neighborhood, but also on other things to do in NYC and on where to find random stores, stuff and things. She was very flexible with check-in and check-out times, which was awesome! The apartment itself is excellent. Literally exactly like the pictures and very clean. The cleaning fee of US60, was a little high, but then again, the apartment is very clean. There is one of those cool dispenser things with shower gel, shampoo and conditioner and there was toothpaste available, along with two towels and a wash cloth thingy. The kitchen is very nice, with a fridge, microwave and a complete stove and oven for those who would feel the need to cook. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit and highly recommend Cindy's apartment!

I stayed at Cindy's apt for 5 days. First of all, the location is good, only 5 minutes walking distance to Line 1 station at Broadway/145 St. Secondly, Wifi connection is good as well. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash were provided free but only one towel for my five-day stay. So it would be good to bring your own towel. 60 dollars cleaning fees seemed a bit much as I saw the washroom and the kitchen were cleaned up only twice when I was there - the 3rd day and the last day I checked out. Would suggest more frequent cleanings if three or five people share one washroom.

  • the place was great and very clean (very important to me) there wasn't really anyone staying there when i was there.... so it was very private during my stay. the proximity to the subway is very convenient. one thing i would suggest is to confirm ALL the info. wasn't the host's fault, the site listed the wrong address and telephone number... you want to avoid that. simple fix - just ask cindy

  • Cindy is a very kind person and I've been glad to stay in her apartment.
