OUTDOORS
Whitefish Lake has the best kayaking location & fishing waters on the chain. We'll point you to our favorite nearby kayaking routes! Explore the surrounding lakes in all the boats we provide - or bring your own boat.
Fishing is good from the dock or further out. Kids will love splashing in the shallow waters, jumping off the pier, or playing on the giant float mat.
After a full day of fun on the water, grill up dinner and enjoy a relaxing meal on the patio, followed by s’mores around a campfire. We’ll provide the s’mores kit & extra-long roasting forks! Bring your binoculars for wildlife watching or telescope for stargazing.
Whitefish Lake is a 200-acre all-sport Class A Musky Lake with an enviably quiet location near the end of the Chain of Lakes. It has the thrill of being part of a large lake chain (cruising multiple lakes without relaunching your boat) without all the boat traffic and frequent wake. The quiet waters are beneficial to small children and fishermen alike. Whitefish is a favorite with local fishermen who catch walleye, musky, northern pike, bass, perch and bluegill.
If you’re bringing a fishing boat, the free public launch is located a half-mile away; we’ll offer specific advice to our boating guests.
INDOORS
White Pines is cozy, clean, and cool - thanks to central air conditioning! It features two queen bedrooms and a bunk room with fresh linens, a full bathroom, and comfortable living room with wood-burning fireplace. The family game room (second living room) offers foosball, magnetic darts, card & board games, as well as books, Legos, DVDs, and puzzles for all ages.
The comfortable futon in the game room converts to a full-size bed for additional sleeping flexibility. There's also a 55" TV with Roku streaming box, DVD player, and HDMI cord to connect to your laptop. In 2025, we've replaced the carpet and updated two of the sofas for maximum coziness.
The kitchen is simple but well-equipped with all you’ll need for family meals, including a crockpot, electric pancake griddle, blender, sharp kitchen knives, Keurig Duo with K-cups, kitchen spices, and quality bakeware and cookware (tri-ply stainless steel set, new nonstick pans).
The new convection range (with Air Fry!) is a treat to use, and you'll find all the "nice to haves" like silicone spatulas, BBQ utensils, and a digital meat thermometer.
Having just one bathroom, we've recently remodeled to make it a great one! In 2024, we entirely rebuilt the bathroom to keep the rustic look but adding modern amenities -- new fixtures, glass shower door, custom tilework and a travertine floor.
We’ve designed White Pines Cabin to be incredibly family friendly — so you’ll find a tiled “mudroom” corner to keep your beach gear contained. We provide kids kitchenware as well as household items to lighten your packing load: pack n play, toddler dining chair, booster, nightlights. The utility room has a large-capacity washer and dryer (2024). The well-stocked linen closet contains plush bath & beach towels, as well as extra linens.
Minimal packing = Maximum relaxing!

Other things to note
Location-location-location!
- Our cabin is west-facing which means long days out on the water with extra afternoon sun...and gorgeous sunsets in the evening.
- We are just 60 feet from the water's edge - on level ground! This was what attracted us to the cabin in the first place. Many homes in the area are up on hills, with stairs to the waterfront, so it's rare and special to find a home where you can look straight from the patio to the water. Easier to get in & out of the water, and keep an eye on the kids - and the fun!
- Whitefish Lake is on the chain - but at the end, so there's no busy-ness of being a 'through' lake with speedboats rushing through.
- If you like to fish, Whitefish Lake is the place to be! We can't promise a great catch -- but will tell you that our lake is where local fishermen come. :) We have lake maps and fishing guides at the cabin to help improve your chances of catching the big one!
Accessibility notes:
There are just 2 steps into the cabin, 2 onto the patio, or 3 onto the deck. Our cabin is both close (60') and level to the lake. The cozy ranch-style cabin works well for the mobility-limited individual who is not a wheelchair user.
In the bathroom, there is a low shower threshold to step over, and a teak shower stool. Quite a number of our guests are multi-generational families; we've hosted guests from 6-months-old to well-into-their-80s!
