Private getaway

This area offers privacy.
Green Dragon Cottage is set in a quiet backroad just North of Diss (10 minutes), sitting at the gateway to the picturesque Waveney Valley. The cottage sleeps up to five guests and is created from former stables and blacksmiths forge. The conversion retains many historic features including wooden beams and pamment tiles, yet with modern amenities including WiFi and underfloor heated bathroom. The cottage has a private entrance, parking and is ideal for families, sat in our peaceful 3.5 acres.

The space
The cottage has its own private and secure off street parking, a child/dog friendly outside space with seating, an outdoor firepit/BBQ. A private entrance leads directly to the modern fully fitted kitchen with a hob and oven available for your use and all the crockery, cutlery and cooking vessels required for your stay. A welcome basket with essentials (tea and coffee, milk, sugar, bread or croissants, butter and fruit juice) along with a basket of firewood will be laid out to greet you. Internet access is available within the property.

Opposite the cottage is a Games Room, converted from two large stables, with darts, table tennis and pool. Please note that this is a shared resource with the Green Dragon Glamping guests.

Feel free to look around the other fields and pick our apples or pears, we always have too many! In late summer and early autumn there are vast numbers of blackberries which can be found in almost all the hedgerows, please help yourself.

Other people renting Green Dragon Glamping on the other side of the farm may also be exploring the site so please keep your dog on a lead outside the cottage fencing and off the furniture inside.

Other things to note
Heating is supplied by the wood burning stove in the sitting/dining room, underfloor heating in the bathroom and additional freestanding electric heaters in the bedrooms.

A BBQ/fire pit is available to use.

Additional firewood for either the wood burning stove or for the fire pit can be purchased from the owner at £9 for a standard sized kiln dried hardwood bag/net. If you’re coming in Spring or Autumn it might be worthwhile bringing slippers as the floors can get a tad chilly.

A large dog crate is available to borrow if required.

We are happy to welcome one medium/large or two small well-behaved house trained dogs per booking.

Neighborhood highlights

Green Dragon Cottage is located in a peaceful backwater with an abundance of wildlife on its doorstep (deer, hares, rabbits, foxes, birds, etc). Although rural it is by no means isolated with the quaint town of Diss only three miles to the south which has a Friday market, 13th Century church, and wealth of local shops and boutiques. Discovering the secret alleyways off the main road filled with unique shops and cafes is a real delight, as is Bressingham Steam Museum and Gardens.

Lives in England, United Kingdom
Born in Lancashire but lived mostly in North London and now located in South Norfolk. I spent my career working in the environmental sector (WWF, The Wildlife Trusts and The Woodland Trust amongst others) so I lean a lot towards efficient use of natural resources and the whole 'reduce, reuse, repair and recycle' ethos.
