The space
We like things peaceful, comfortable and fun at Gran's Getaway! Situated on a man-made lake, this sweet log cabin can fit up to a family of six, fishermen, fisherwomen, fisherkids, a small family reunion, antique shoppers, couples' and friends' weekends! And if you want the whole house to yourself, go on with your bad self!
Oct 2025: brand new luxury vinyl plank floors throughout bedrooms, kitchen and living areas. New stainless steel fridge, dishwasher and microwave. Brand new lighting and ceiling fans throughout the cabin. This place feels brand new.
The master bedroom and ensuite is separated from the other two rooms by the kitchen and living room. It has a screened-in porch accessible through its own sliding glass door. The bay window is also pretty fun to sit and stare at the lake from the master bedroom.
The Kids Only Game Room comes packed with a child-sized arcade that has pre-loaded PacMan and Galaga games and board games in the closet. A brand new queen sized bed and mattress furnish this room.
The third bedroom (AKA "the girls' room") comes equipped with a Full sized bed, and pink nightstand.
The guest bathroom is right at the end of the long hallway and closest to The Girls' Room. It’s equipped with a full sized tub.
The great room is where most of the adult grandchildren like to spend their time. The oversized leather living room furniture is super comfortable with room to spread out in front of the 50" Roku TV (Gran gave into our demands of something that streamed all of our favorites) and electric fireplace that crackles and glows.
When the weather is nice, lots of us like to go outside on the porch and watch the fish and frogs splash in the quiet lake in the backyard. One of our favorite things about this porch is that it has two sides. One is accessible from the living room area and the screened-in side is accessible from the master bedroom sliding glass door. Gran got fancy!
The backyard is magical. Walking down the steps of the back porch leads you to a sweet path down to the water's edge. You can enjoy the water's edge for fishing, coffee/tea sipping, reading, or just staring out at the water, listening to the birds and bugs.
There's plenty of parking too! Gran likes her little spot right by the front door and she said she's willing to share with the guests. Two cars can park in front of the house and one car can park in front of the garage. Even a trailer can fit in the side yard but a few posts and cinder blocks will have to be moved. Gran can't help with that. She just let's the youngsters do that. Just remember to put everything back the way it was or Gran will get the flyswatter!

Parking is free on the property. We can accommodate up to five cars or three cars and a trailer for Antique Week. See last few photos for a picture of the large grassy area to the right of the garage for trailers or boats.

By reserving this property on Airbnb, you understand that these risks may be increased by factors such as weather conditions and your own skill level.
2. Assumption of Risk:
By reserving this property on Airbnb, you voluntarily assume all risks associated with the use of the kayaks and canoes provided by the homeowner and host. You understand that your participation is voluntary and that you may choose not to use the watercraft.
3. Age Requirement:
You confirm that you are 18 years of age or older and are legally capable of reserving this property, and therefore understanding this waiver. You acknowledge that guests under the age of 18 must wear a life jacket at all times and be accompanied by an adult while on or near the water.
4. No Liability:
You hereby release and hold harmless the homeowner, host, and any associated parties from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, or losses arising from my use of the kayaks, canoes, or any other watercraft, whether caused by negligence or otherwise. This includes any incidents that may occur on or near the water, regardless of whether you were using the provided equipment.
5. Life Jackets and Safety Equipment:
You acknowledge that life jackets and other life-saving devices will be provided for use. You understand that it is your responsibility to wear a life jacket while using the kayaks or canoes, and to ensure that any minors in your care do the same.
6. Agreement to Terms:
By reserving this property on Airbnb, you affirm that you have read and understood the terms herein. You agree to abide by all safety instructions provided by the homeowner and host and acknowledge that this waiver is binding upon you and your heirs.
Other things to note
Gran's favorite small town of 87 residents, Round Top, is a beautiful country drive from the cabin. The newest restaurant that is sure to wow everyone is The Garden Company in Round Top. Gran highly recommends it to all guests!
There is a tiny town about 5 minutes away called Winchester which has a very small convenient store and a great Steakhouse called Murphy's. Make your reservation at Murphy's though, it fills up fast on a Friday or Saturday night.
For groceries, you have two options that are about 15-20 minutes away in either Giddings to the north or La Grange to the south. HEB and Walmart grocery stores are in both Giddings and La Grange.
