The space
THE EMERALD HOUSE

With silent atmosphere, eclectic style, The Emerald House is one of a kind building situated at a fabulous preserved location, in the safest neighbourhood of Rio de Janeiro. The Emerald House was built between 2021 and 2022. It’s freshly open to the first guests.

The house is fully decorated with Art and Brazilian designer furnitures, Oriental rugs, 18th century chandeliers, Art works and antiques.
The Emerald House is a vertical building with several areas throughout 4 floors and 600m2 total area.

Three en suite bedrooms, two living rooms of 45m2, an open kitchen and dinning area, two guests lavabos, solarium and sitting area with garden, rooftop with sun deck with 360° open view to the nature, to the Atlantic Ocean and the town.

The property is located in a Nature conservation area which goes up to the summit of the majestic Pedra da Gávea mountain, almost 3000 feet/1000 meters high above Rio. The neighbourhood but most specially the road, is sanctuary to wildlife and we care locally for many cats and dogs for safety and cleanness reasons. We are all Nature freaks. But we love Art and Design too, and beauty for all that matters.

A 3-5 hours spectacular hiking track starts 100m from the Emerald House.

This beautiful area, the Tijuca National Park is one of the first Nature protected areas in the world, once it was declared as Protected Forest in 1861 by D. Pedro II, who implemented protection and recovering of the Atlantic Rainforest, that fortunately, helped to form the largest urban forest in the world, where the Emerald House is one of its lucky shielding. The Tijuca National Park is composed by the mountain chain of Corcovado (where Christ The Redeemer is located), Paineras, Tijuca, Gávea Pequena, Trapicheiro, Andaraí, Três Rios, Parque Lage, Serra dos Pretos Forros and Morro da Covanca. You can hike through by what is called the “Transcarioca Trail” from Emerald House door.

Of common use, the main Living room and the “Salon du Jour”, music & meditation room opens to an absolutely opulent view of the Atlantic Forest Biosphere Preserve Valley. Large windows open to refreshing breeze and full green immersion perspectives with the Atlantic in the background. The Salon du Jour has an en-suite walk in dressing, followed by a spacious bathroom with Italian shower and a so called “Garden pool” of over 2000 litres receiving source mineral water from the mountains that we treat for refreshing hot summer days, free of charge. This pool do not receive hot water therefore is useful only during summer time.

Our water is pure, provided by a natural source. Therefore we ask avoiding wastes, help protect our biodiversity in all its forms, preventing pollution, abuse of our ocean, land, air and fresh water. We do not use any appliances that add carbon dioxide in the environment.

Climbing to the fourth floor’s stairs, find the large deck on the rooftop, a space of 80m2. From the deck you have the sea and the Atlantic Forest Biosphere Preserve view, wild life can be seen climbing through the trees canopies, depending of season.

Many species of birds as tucanos and aras, many species of monkeys and tiny apes, sloths, small lizards, and many other mammals, and insects as fireflies, mostly inoffensive and mainly nocturnal wildlife can be seen. We ask to avoid physical contact with all wildlife, do not feed them. Wildlife is strictly protected by the Municipal Secretariat for the Environment (SMAC), the Environmental Military Police Command (CPAM) and the Public Ministry. The Tijuca National Park is a conservatory of local biodiversity. Monitoring actions ensure that the forest remains preserved and maintains its ecological functions (microclimate, water production, etc).

The house's living rooms and eating areas are indeed open to the environment through large glass panels, you can contemplate pure Nature.

Calming elements are making The Emerald House a peaceful property.

The Olympic Golf course, the Golden Green Golf Club provides three-par six-hole court greens open to outside players with illumination for night play.
