For all airbnbs at our home, electricity is included in the price (other apartments may seem like a great deal until you find you you are paying extra for electricity/air conditioning usage. The Strelitzia Project uses solar panels to source free energy, so we pass those savings on to you!
Do not be discouraged by the location on the map for The Strelitzia Project; It may look like it is a million miles away from the action of 5th avenue, but you have to remember that Playa Del Carmen is a very small town! A 15 minute bike ride or a 30 minute walk will get you from the studio to 5th avenue and the amazing beaches (to clarify, we do not offer bikes with the Strelitzia Studio, we are using this example to give you an idea of distances only - feel free to ask us who we recommend for bike rentals during your stay and we will be happy to assist).
Make no mistake, the location of our studio, however convenient, is not right in the center of town (if it was, we wouldn’t have the Cenote & jungle right on our doorstep!). Our studio is more suited to the seasoned traveler; for those that want to experience local culture, not just the tourist spots. For those that are willing & able to navigate to the town centre and other areas nearby by using car rentals, taxis, public transport, coaches… or just enjoy walking / cycling and a bit of adventure.
A huge benefit to our location is that it is extremely peaceful. If you book in the centre, you will usually be surrounded by loud music and the hustle and bustle that lively PDC offers 24/7. With the Strelitzia Project, you can get involved in the lively atmosphere of the town when you want, but then you can retreat to peace and tranquility when you need that too!
In addition, you must understand that for the price per night we are offering, we have outfitted the studio like a 5-star luxury hotel room which you would pay $100's for! As an example, the bamboo memory foam mattress alone was imported from the USA, at a cost of almost $1,600 USD. We doubt you will get a better night sleep on the mattresses you will find at the numerous $80 a night apartments you will find in the town centre. Alexa controlled smart lighting, and wall mounted iPads are also something you won't find many luxury hotels either!
We also like to think we offer peace of mind to our guests. We are owners of the house, not employees of a rental management company that look after 100 other apartments. We are on-site to resolve any issues and to generally make sure you have the best vacation experience possible. No missed calls, no unanswered messages. If we don't see your message straight away, simply ring the front door bell of the house!
IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
The Strelitzia Studio is exactly that; a small, well laid-out studio room with fitted kitchenette, en-suite bathroom and private garden space. It is NOT a large, sprawling apartment with separate living room. If you are looking for a large interior space, the Strelitzia Studio is probably not for you. If you are planning an extended stay, this should be taken into consideration.
There might be some construction noise nearby as this is a new development and new homes are still being built. Please reach out to us before booking to give you a better idea if there will be any noise or not during your stay. Usually the noise is not overbearing, and currently the closest construction is not active. If you arrive and decide the noise is too much, we will be open to discussion of refunding you and helping you find another location. Guest access
You will have your own access at the rear of the house, no need to walk through the main house to gain access to the studio. the house was designed with the lock-off of the studio in mind, You have full access to the huge Infinity Pool and Cenote. This is a shared area with the other residents of Bosques De Bambu, however, the pool is usually empty 80% of the time. This is because the studio is located within a brand new, luxury residential development, therefore only 70% of homes are built, and as the homes are usually owned by families that live and work here (not tourists), the area is usually very quiet Monday - Friday, and a little busier on the weekends. You have your own private back garden area with breakfast bar overlooking the pool, great for morning coffee or evening wine!
