To start with the best thing - Reina - she is a thoughtful, conscientious hostess who makes sure that you have everything you need for a comfortable stay. She is a kind, intelligent, funny, and just chill person whom you could easily pass hours and days with. Reina knows New York like Zagat itself, so not only will you have the pleasure of her general company, but you can ask her for tips and advice about where to go and how to spend your time on any kind of budget. In short - she's the best.
As for her place - Reina's apartment is a fully loaded 1br. The kitched is open, well stocked, and has a good sized dining table where you can stretch out, have a cup of coffee, and read the paper (or your smart phone). Her living room is spacious and has a number of choice spots where you can sleep including couches, a bed (that is masquerading as a bed but really looks like a couce), and air mattresses. It's comfortably lit and there are books and books that you can grab for fun reading. The bathroom is in good working order, and the shower has suprisingly good water pressure for an apartment bathroom. Her place is also located in a vibrant part of the city where you can pass a Chinese restaurant, Pizza joint, Spanish restaurant, and lots of food carts on the same block. It's safe and you can soak in different cultures without going to far.
In short, I'm pleased to recommend Reina and her apartment without any reservation. I have personal experience bunking over there, and am a little jealous that you might be doing so soon. Best wishes and safe travels!
